Things and Thangs, and Adorable Movie-geek babies

Yet another post filled with random links. I will actually get to writing things - I promise!!

Above - A Visual Compendium of Notable Haircuts in Hollywood poster. Click here to zoom in.

The Best Singing Performances in Non-Musical Films. Faves on the list include the scenes from:
  • Young Frankenstein
  • Before Sunset
  • The Muppets
  • Mullholland Drive
  • Almost Famous
  • High Fidelity

The Anatomy of Nerds + Geeks. Geek, GEEK! I am most certainly a geek!

The 19 Most Beautiful Movies ever Made.
A bit of a strong statement to make, but I must agree, these are some damn visually stunning films. My picks from the list:
  • Pan's Labyrinth
  • Baraka
  • Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
  • Amelie
Off the list:
  • Never Let Me Go
  • In The Mood for Love
  • Dr. Strangelove
  • Slumdog Millionaire
  • The Tree of Life (the writer of this article must not have watched it yet, because I don't know how in the film gods' name they didn't include it in the this list.)

The 50 Best Food-on-Film Moments. Combining my two best loves/vices together:
  • Raging Bull
  • Goodfellas
  • The Godfather
  • Pulp Fiction
  • A Christmas Story
  • Waitress
  • Volver
  • Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle

A poster of mini pop culture icons. Can ya name them all?

The 10 Best Uses of Existing Songs in Film. There's nothing worse than a horrible mismatch between song and scene. And then there are those, like those on this list, that seem made for each other. In my opinion Quentin Tarantino makes more perfect matches than eHarmony and match.com combined.
  • Trainspotting
  • The Departed
  • Drive (but w/ "Tick of the Clock," not "A Real Hero")
  • Blue Valentine (along w/ "You and Me," a great song on its own, but by the time we get to it in the movie, it just about makes you wanna rip your heart out)
  • Pulp Fiction (that song, along with just about every other song on the soundtrack)

My would-be-baby will be the geekiest/cutest baby ever, even cuter than this kid whose mom dressed him up as Carl Frederickson from Up. Or even Arthur, whose mom created a blog called Arthur Recreates Scenes From Classic Movies. These are great baby Halloween costume ideas, or in Arthur's case, a fun way to pass the days until your maternity is up :)
  • American Beauty - kinda wrong, but also hilarious/adorable
  • The Godfather - "Mr. Corleone never asks a second favor once he's refused the first, understood? "Link
